  GUEST  SPEAKER

Ex-banker Paul Rickard introduced another ex-banker & member of Sydney Rotary Club, Ray Knight. Ray has been in Sydney Rotary for 15 years. He held various eminent positions in the CBC later NAB banks in Queensland, NSW & the UK. He has been a director of the RNSH Heart Research Foundation for 22 years and chairman for the last 4 years. They raised $4 million last year. The fatality rate from heart attacks has been reduced from 32% some years ago to 2% per year now!

On the subject of Ned Kelly Isn't Dead, Ray gave a relatively light-hearted account of his experiences in the banking industry with robbery & fraud, both in Australia and overseas.

He ranged from Queensland to NSW country & metro to Scotland.

We heard about inside jobs, the briefcase bandit, the teller turned robber, the service station operator, dye bombs, the foolhardy, the unlucky robbers, & even the bank customer husband who had tripped a robber, complained, received a gift from the bank, then got into trouble from his wife.

There were some interesting questions, comments and observations from members.

Sec Julie thanked Ray, even though there had been no attention given to Ned Kelly.

She found it "exceedingly interesting" to hear about the "robberies he had been involved with."

The raffle was won by Sandy, with scratchies going to Peter Headley & Ian Clarke.
